P5 Coding Fun with Micro:bit!
Today our P5 learners took their digital skills to the next level by coding their very own step counters using the Micro:bit!
After building their programs, we headed outside to the playground to put their creations to the test. The excitement was real as pupils experimented, tested accuracy, and compared results—all while getting active!
This task brought together a brilliant mix of skills:
Computational thinking – breaking problems into steps, debugging, and testing
Digital literacy – using block-based coding confidently and creatively
Maths links – counting, estimating, measuring, and interpreting data
Health & Wellbeing – encouraging movement, teamwork, and healthy habits
Science & Technology – exploring sensors, inputs, and real-world applications
The pupils absolutely loved seeing their code come to life, and the cross-curricular connections made the learning even richer. Big smiles, busy brains, and lots of steps taken!
