St. Eugene’s PS Triumph in Na Magha Cup – A Glorious Third Final of the Year
St. Eugene’s Primary School has etched its name into the annals of school hurling history with a thrilling victory in the prestigious Na Magha Cup, marking their third final appearance of the year and their most triumphant yet.
After a season filled with determination, skill, and resilience, the young hurlers of St. Eugene’s rose to the occasion, showcasing their talent and teamwork in a fiercely contested final. This win is especially sweet, coming after two earlier final appearances this year where they narrowly missed out on silverware—including a dramatic runner-up finish in the Derry Indoor Hurling Blitz.
Rex stood tall between the posts, delivering a commanding performance in goal with crucial saves that kept the team in control.
In defence, Matthew, Jake, and Dorian formed a rock-solid wall, breaking down attacks and launching counterplays with confidence and composure.
The midfield engine was powered by Séan and Barry, whose relentless work rate, sharp passing, and tactical awareness drove the team forward.
Up front, Oisín and Joshua were a dynamic duo, combining flair and finishing to keep the scoreboard ticking and the opposition on the back foot.
The boys were cheered on by proud families and supporters and the team displayed exceptional grit and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their journey to the Na Magha Cup was paved with hard-fought victories, tactical brilliance, and a deep passion for the game.
This victory not only crowns a remarkable season but also highlights the school’s growing legacy in hurling. The players, staff, and wider school community can take immense pride in this achievement, which reflects the spirit and dedication that defines St. Eugene’s PS.
Congratulations to the champions – Na Magha Cup winners 2025!
